The Five at Five: Chloé Pierre

12 Aug 2021

From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – The Five at Five offers some post-lockdown inspiration that celebrates the independents.

This week’s selection has been curated by Chloé Pierre, the founder of thy.self, the London-based disruptive lifestyle brand that launched in 2018 to challenge the norms, diversify the wellness industry, and actualise self-care and self-love in an inclusive and relatable manner. Here, Chloé fills us in on her favourite spots and shops…

The wellness community founder knows that all women-identifying people need each other more than ever right now, and so do the global brands such as Nike, Samsung, ASOS, and Instagram, who have tapped Chloé for special projects surrounding self-love and self-care.

FOR FOOD
“I love Gloria in Shoreditch. Being Hackney born and raised, having nice places to dine on your doorstep, which is a bit upmarket from the local offerings, is nice. It's one of the best parts of gentrification, if that's actually a 'thing'.”

FOR PEOPLE-WATCHING
180 The Strand is a new location but breathtaking and beautiful at the same time. Last time I went I saw a few famous faces but it was a chilled atmosphere so it just felt really nice and makes a change considering we've been in lockdown for sometime now.”

FOR BOOKS
“Whilst bookshops are a dying breed, the local library stands and many of them have so much history and are situated in really historic buildings and I love history so it's a win-win. It's almost like an undiscovered and underrated safe space. I also have a long love for the local London council library, which my mum inspired in me since I was really really young!”

FOR WELLNESS
“Hampstead Heath for a wellness spot – there's so much ground to cover and freeing to do so. It's what you make of it, and I always intend on making every trip a big event.

Glow Bar is gorgeous and just a vibe. I learn something new about wellness when I visit.”

FOR SHOPPING
“For an uninterrupted shopping experience every time, I head to Barcelona. You're not bombarded by 'trends', so as a fashion professional this kind of trip is inspirational, especially when able to connect with local artisan traders.”
