In New York’s downtown district, the East Village is known for it’s laid-back charm and eclectic nightlife. With a history bedded in the radical art scene of the 60s, this part of Manhattan is home to some of the city’s most notorious dive bars, cool hangouts and creative events. More formally known as the East Village Playhouse, the black box theatre is a unique pop-up space ideal for retailers to showcase their brand.
With great connections to just about anywhere in Manhattan and Brooklyn, this neighborhood has earned its bohemian reputation from its love of vintage threads, studios and the performing arts. Brimming with independent theatres, young creatives head here to see plays, browse the boutiques and get a taste of the late-night bodegas, so you’ll find early evenings and weekends busiest. There’s easy access from 2nd Avenue subway station which is 7 mins away, plus numerous bus stops within the vicinity.
East 6th street is a good mix of residential, local eateries and cool themed bars including the oyster bar, Upstate on the corner which specialises in craft beers as well as the Udon enthused Japanese restaurant Raku found next door. There’s also a Mcdonald's on 1st Av. Some of the most infamous East Village residents within your reach include the clandestine cocktail bar PDT (Please Don’t Tell) 2 blocks away. Further down East 6th street the bars continue with Death & Company, a speakeasy style lounge renowned for it’s mixology.
