They’ve done such an amazing job of renovating this warehouse-style building that you’d never believe it used to be an employment centre. Housing a curated collection of local businesses, plus a podcast studio, pop-up shop, bar and three eateries, Mare Street Market is one of Hackney’s hippest hangouts, and has 25,000 followers on Instagram to prove it. This stylish “boutique mall” is now available for brand takeovers and events – and if you don’t want all 10,000 square feet of it, they can set you up with an area to suit your needs.
Mare Street is Hackney’s high street in all but in name, so there’s always people around during the week and at weekends. Expect to see plenty of Hackney’s young, creative, cosmopolitan residents, as well as an arty, fashion-conscious crowd from the nearby London College of Fashion campus. With Netil Market, London Fields and Broadway Market all a stone’s throw away, it’s especially lively around here at weekends. London Fields station is a four-minute walk.
Market Street market’s businesses include Stranger Than Paradise, a vinyl store run by the ex-manager of Rough Trade East, Pure White Lines interiors and antiques shop, Hackney florists Rebel Rebel, and Flying Horse Coffee.
1 day maximum for exclusive events and takeovers.
There’s a bar within the building, so it’s unlikely you’ll be able to retail your own alcohol.
No changes to the space.
The landlord is looking for cool, luxury and/or exclusive brands that will reflect well on, and align with, the Mare Street Market brand – so expect them to be pretty selective.
The landlord will not accept requests for Saturdays; ideally Monday-Wednesday.
There may be an additional minimum spend in place depending on the day of the week and the type of the event.
