A classic Brooklyn neighborhood, Midwood may fly under the radar when compared to the flashier locales of Dumbo or Williamsburg, but it’s an area steeped in tradition. For proof, look no further than Di Fara Pizza, the legendary pizza place that’s been drawing people to Midwood for over 40 years. A few blocks down on McDonald Ave, this third floor showroom for rent sits above an HVAC shop.
Because of its relatively low cost of living, strong public schools, and community-oriented disposition, Midwood attracts mostly families who want a more suburban way of life while still being close to downtown Manhattan. During the week, Ostrovitsky Bakery is the go-to kosher bakery to satisfy sweet tooths of all ages. Three blocks over on 18th Avenue, Glatt a la Carte is an upscale kosher steakhouse for special occasions. Weekends in Midwood tend to be quiet, with many shops being closed in observance of the Sabbath. The Avenue I station is half a block away.
The ground floor is an HVAC shop and next door is a bathroom restoration company. Across the road is an auto shop. Further up the street is the Starlite Lounge and a kids play center.
McDonald Avenue is fairly commercial – keep that in mind when implementing your event idea.
