Bushick has a reputation of being artsy and industrial, but this block of Saint Nicholas Ave is tree-lined and mixes a residential neighborhood feel with retail and commercial shops like this pop up white studio retail space for rent. From the tin ceiling to the wood flooring, the space is a true eye pleaser.
Bushwick was once a destination for freelancers, artists, and musicians that couldn’t afford the rent in Williamsburg or Manhattan, but the area has slowly gentrified like its neighbors. The neighborhood has seen a growth of young professionals, newly-built luxury buildings, and wonderful bars and restaurants like Left Hand Path and Heavy Woods. The Dekalb St. L train is around the corner, and will get you to Manhattan in 15 minutes.
Meantime Co. is a wonderful gallery across the street, and Underdonk is another gallery around the corner. Nearby Los Hermanos is a legendary Mexican restaurant in a tortilla factory, and House of Yes, Faro, The Three Diamond Door and The Pine Box Rock Shop are all close as well.
This isn’t a heavily trafficked street like Flushing Avenue, but it’s in a thriving community that comes out to support great shops and galleries.
