Listed building T&Cs
Protecting the building

As a listed historic building, we have restrictions which we ask you to respect. It may seem like a strict list but these things are important so that we can protect this beautiful building for generations to come:

FOOD AND DRINK | No dark-coloured or staining liquids such as red wine, and no flaky, greasy or staining foods are allowed.

FLOWERS | Flowers are allowed in the chapel but no red berries, pollen, seeds, loose leaves, ferns or flower petals on the floor. You must prepare flowers off site. Flowers must be held in moss, green foam oasis or gel and not water and in a vessel which will not scratch the marble ledges or are placed on a felt mat. The floor, altar top and marble balustrades must be protected by a felt mat before you place flowers on top. Flowers and foliage must be stable and not drop.

FURNITURE | All hired furniture must have protective pads on the feet or base. Our own beautiful chairs are included in the hire fee.

STRUCTURE | You can't alter the structure, fittings or decorations of the chapel. Decorations may not be attached to the walls or any other part inside or outside of the building. Additional lighting, sound or AV equipment must be freestanding and safe without loose wires or trip hazards. Please don't tape anything to the floor (including wires).

CANDLES: No naked flames, candles, incense or diffusers are allowed inside or outside the chapel

CONFETTI | These things aren't allowed either inside or outside the chapel: fireworks, smoke machines, sparklers, party poppers, helium balloons, streamers, rose petals, confetti, glitter, ticker tape or sequins

SMOKING AND DRINKING | You can't smoke or take drinks into Pearson Square.

ACCESS | There is no vehicle access in Pearson Square so you'll need to load and unload outside the square.

SHOES | You and your guests can wear high heels but we may ask you to wear a pair of our high-heel floor protectors because of our delicate mosaic floor. They are easy to walk in, transparent and unobtrusive. Please return them when you leave the chapel. Shoe polish must be buffed in well to avoid scuffing and staining the floor.

MUSICIANS | Musicians must use matting for heavy instruments and a spike floor protector for a cello or double bass. Matting must be laid if an instrument is rolled, dragged, or placed on the floor.

SECULAR | The Fitzrovia Chapel is a secular chapel, which means that religious ceremonies (including blessings and religious music) are not allowed.
