This stretch of Hackney Road is fast becoming an extension of nearby Columbia Road as a string of independent coffeeshops, bars and eateries such as Long White Cloud and Morito have opened up. Premises Studios, however, has been a fixture in this part of town for more than 30 years and has played host to legends such as Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse. It’s above this established recording studio that you’ll find this unique retail and event space, which has three rooms and a large roof terrace overlooking Hackney Road.
Hackney Road is at its busiest at the weekends as the area’s young creatives, families and tourists come here to sip flat whites and explore the likes of Columbia Road Market and Hackney City Farm. Thanks to the likes of Morito, Sager + Wilde and The Marksman, this neighbourhood is a bit of a destination for diners and a popular evening hang-out, too. Premises is one of the UK’s most popular studios and also houses a café where musicians, studio staff and locals can mingle. Hoxton station is four minutes away.
You’ll be above the recording studios and café. Nearby businesses include Morito, Moro’s second sister restaurant, slick wine bar Sager + Wilde and popular Chinese restaurant pop-up Lucky & Joy.
The space can be decorated and furnished as you like.
Main room: 7m x 4.1m
Reception: 2.9m x 2.4m
Machine room: 2.35m x 1.25m
Opening Hours: 10am - 11pm
The space used to be an office and its layout won’t suit all ideas. However, it would be great as a gallery, retail showroom or workspace.
Access is through the reception of the recording studio downstairs, which is staffed all day.
